Based on the instructions of the Management Committee and Education Directing Committee of Honors School, the School drafted the Implementation Methods of Cultivation of Public Spirit of Students in Honors School and it came into force in 2015. The Methods requires all freshmen and sophomores to take part in the volunteer system and complete at least 20 volunteer hours in each academic year. In addition the Methods proposes to establish a Star Volunteer Accreditation System and a Rookie Training System. It also proposes to set up a volunteer service foundation and cooperate with the Morality Society which can assist to carry out the registration, training, evaluation and motivation of volunteer service. Honors School has proactively established the platforms of volunteer service in cooperation with several institutions of Jiangnan University including the Library, General Affairs Office, Students Affairs Office and Excellent Teacher Training Center as well as many other social organizations such as Wuxi People’s Hospital, Wuxi Library, Jiangnan Arts Kindergarten, Wuxi Chong’an District Special School, Wuxi Chong’an District Litigation Service Center, Shanxi Province Jingle County Duanjiazhai Primary School etc.. Up until now there have been in Honors School Volunteer System 10 regular service bases and platforms, 26 types of volunteer services and more than 180 service positions.
